Everybody Has A Bucket List, And Seniors Are No Exception To That Rule.

“Someday…”. There are many exciting ways to conclude that thought only limited by the depth of one’s imagination. Perhaps there are activities and adventures that you want to pursue but just have not had a chance to turn into reality. But what about seniors? They still have dreams, aspirations, and hopes for the future as well.

If an elderly parent appears unable or unwilling to think of ideas to live life to the fullest, try these suggestions to stimulate and encourage their wishful thinking:

  • Visit the town where they were born and/or raised.
  • Volunteer with a favorite charity or organization.
  • Try and engage in a different hobby, such as crafts, scrapbooking or painting.
  • Create a legacy to pass down through writing or recording memoirs.
  • Learn something new, for example, play a musical instrument or a foreign language.
  • Adopt a new pet.

It is important to consider things that match the senior’s interest.  These should not be activities that you feel they should try or are capable of doing. Let them make their own decision of what they would like to do.
